Ring Sing

DePauw Sorority Alpha Chi Omega is throwing their annual Pre-Monon Pep Rally on Thursday. The event is called Ring Sing and it brings students together for performances and skits to boost school spirit ahead of this weekend’s football game. The event will take place in the Lilly Center gym at 8:30 P-M. Students are asked to bring along a dollar for admission. The money will go towards Alpha Chi’s philanthropy for victims of domestic violence. Alpha Chi hopes the event also boosts support for the football team ahead of the last regular season game versus Wabash. The nine and oh Tigers will kick off against the seven and two Little Giants at 1:07 this Saturday in Crawfordsville.

Admissions Numbers Compared to Last Year and Their Plans for the Incoming Class

It is the time of year when applications are rolling into DePauw University. The number of applications as of last Thursday was 1,915, compared to last year’s 1,914. The applications continue to come in at almost an identical rate to last year.

The retention rate last year was 89.7 percent and the head of admissions Dan Meyer is hoping that this rate will increase with this year’s class and in the years to come.

Meyer: "The University has taken the initiatives that are designed so that all students can kind of find their home academically, socially, and co-curricularly, that I would hope that we could push that retention rate up."

The admissions office is planning on offering admission to around 3,000 students, it ultimately depends on the number of students that end up applying. They are also working on expanding awareness of DePauw University outside of the Midwest and into other parts of the country and internationally.
