DePauw Wins at Conserving Energy
DePauw University was the top college reducer during the 2010 Campus Conservation Nationals. DePauw was one of nearly forty campuses that jointly reduced their electricity consumption by over five hundred thousand kilowatt-hours over a three-week period, saving over fifty thousand dollars. DePauw came in first place, with nearly a twenty-six percent reduction of energy.
For winning, the University will receive Lucid Design Group's Building Dashboard software. This software enables students to view and compare resource data and share it with the campus. This will continue to help with the campus sustainability plan.
DePauw Energy Wars is a campus wide annual event that students participate in. Students from Greek houses and dorms are encouraged to reduce water and electricity bills to work towards better sustainability.
