Sunday October 28th marks the start of DePauw’s eleventh annual ArtsFest. This week-long festival has events held each day that are tied together with the theme of Art and the Other. Publicity Coordinator Sarah McAdams says ArtsFest is meant to merge the communities of Greencastle.
McAdams says Art Attack is usually a draw for the kids of Greencastle. Other than Art Attack, there is a series of speakers as well as performances by the School of Music throughout the week. The week leads up to performances of the Crucible by DePauw students.
DU and Alpha Phi’s Haunted House
The Delta Upsilon and Alpha Phi haunted house is one of many philanthropy events coming up this fall. Alpha Phi's Director of External Philanthropy Lizzie Hineman has been involved with the event for the past three years.
"Alpha Phi likes to participate in the DU Alpha Phi Haunted House because it gives us a chance to bring together the campus and the community within Greencastle with the kids and their parents coming and also the Seniors through the Freshmen coming. They get to go to the Haunted house and they get to carve pumpkins and have a grand time."
The house offers kid-friendly attractions so that all ages may attend the event. The cost of admission is five dollars with all proceeds going to The Global Service Initiative or GSI. The GSI offers a unique opportunity to fundraise and engage in direct service in developing nations and regions of the world. The haunted house will be open Saturday, October twenty seventh, from six thirty to nine thirty and is located off of East Seminary Street.
