President Casey Announces 31 Million in Gifts
President Brian Casey announced today that DePauw has received and approved 31 million dollars in gifts to the University.
Timothy H. and Sharon W. Ubben, both class of ’58, have committed a $20 million gift to the University’s endowment to provide financial aid for DePauw students. DePauw’s Board of Trustees met over the weekend and approved the Ubben’s gift. The couple’s many gifts to DePauw have established numerous endowed professorships, in addition to the Timothy and Sharon Ubben Lecture Series. The Ubben Lecture Series has brought nearly 100 speakers to campus.
The Board also approved 11 million dollars worth of other gifts coming from various donors including Jane L. Emison, Douglas and Anne Smith and Kenneth W. and Carrie Melind Coquillette, both class of ’82. These gifts will fund the Center for Student Engagement, announced in November, continued renovations of Anderson Street, and restorations on East College.
Lastly, the Board approved two anonymous 7 million dollar gifts which will fund the athletics master plan. Renovations will begin on the Lilly Center as early as this April.
