El Salvador Winter Term in Service Pupusas Night (Feb. 20)

DePauw University’s winter term in service trip to El Salvador is continuing their service. The trip went this past January to help with a medical brigade as well as demolish and rebuild a school that was built 20 years ago by DePauw students. Ashley Baur and the rest of the winter term group decided to sell pupusas a traditional El Salvador meal Friday night around the fraternities....(more on this story coming soon)

Board of Trustees Results (Feb. 15)

President Casey says the members of the Board of Trustees were enthusiastic about the future possibilities for DePauw. Casey met with the Board this past weekend. The board approved the tuition and fees for the 2012-2013 academic year. There will be a 2,250 dollar increase in tuition, room and board for the coming academic year.... MAO Committee (Feb. 13)

Management of Academic Operations or MAO has concluded its investigation of the time bank system for DePauw’s class scheduling process. The committee began this examination last year, after a student government white paper looked at conflicts in scheduling and a possible extension of the common lunch hour. Drinking at DePauw Study (Feb. 13)

The National College Health Improvement Project on High-Risk Drinking, that originated at Dartmouth University, was recently on location at DePauw. The group researches the drinking habits of college students. Over the last 7 months multiple studies focusing on students and drinking have been in effect, leading professors to question whether drinking is preventing DePauw University from attaining higher academic prestige. Metronet Rebranding (Feb. 12)

Cingery Metronet has begun a rebranding process by changing their name to Metronet. Metronet recently sent out letters to customers informing them of the name and logo change. Metronet’s Marketing Coordinator, Mindy Wingert, says within the next three months customers will begin to see the new name and logo on bills, Metronet T.V. guides, employee uniforms, company vans, and store signs. Indianapolis Celebrates and Gives to "Super Kids" with Super Baskets of Hope (Feb. 2)

Super Baskets of Hope is a Super Bowl- affiliated partnership between the Riley Children’s Foundation, former Colts Coach Tony Dungy and the Baskets of Hope organization. The initiative aims to be the first project of its kind to fill 7,000 goodie baskets for sick children in all 32 NFL markets.... (more on this story coming soon)
